I hope everything works out for you. These events do make us appreciate what we have and what is most important (ie you weren't hurt). Yeah it sounds like a tired cliche' but universal truths sometimes do. I firmly believe music has great healing power and can relieve stress, good luck with putting your life back in order.

Nice to hear from you. I lost a home (and a pet dog) in a fire once. It's tough when it happens, but the pain of loss gradually becomes fonder memories, life moves on, and eventually things get better. Hope your journey gets ever easier and better as you move forward.

Sure, the new cat isn't the same, but it's still an animal with it's own life, personality, etc... so lavish the same love on it that you did your previous one. Not all children are the same, but (barring the really monstrous brain-damaged ones) good parents love 'em all!

Some how I mus have missed that thread. Deli is ONE HELL of a great guy, and a friend to have. I wished he lived closer to me after meeting him. Yyou are lucky to have him near, and to have him let everyone know what happened with you.

Give it time. You'll find a place you can call home, and not just somewhere you're keeping your stuff.

I went through a fire myself a little over 20 years ago, and caused by my own stupidity, one hung over morning. At times I still kick myself in the ass because of some of the things I lost. I say my thanks no one else nor animals were hurt since it was an apartment building. I also worked for the place I burnt, and it and me were all over the news. It wasn't plesant to say the least.

A fire isn't something that is easy to take the scars from, but time does heal. Glad to hear you are working on it!

Amazing at times what it takes to realize how rich we really are.. and it sounds like you understand that... THAT is what living is about!

2325fan,

I do recall the fire and you loosing everything. And I do remember how the guys came to your aid, especially Deli. I'm always astounded by Paul's big heart and good nature.

It's hard to believe a year has past. I'm glad that you've been able to weather through the tough times and that life is looking good. Hope your new little buddy is as endearing as Dee.

I'm glad you've stuck around.

Carl

What a freaky evening....

Just got off the phone with a good friend we hadn't heard from in a few weeks.. come to find out, he just lost everything a few weeks ago in a big fire that was all over the news here for about a week. A very large apartment complex.

His phone got roasted, so he didn't have our number, but yet he knew where we lived. He was just too busy trying to deal with life.

He's going to come over and visit tomorrow.. I really wished we would have known... It's amazing how fast a person's life can change and close friends have no idea...

I was talking to my wife earlier about this thread, and realized I never shared the story of the fire I lit.. so we talked about it for a while.. then out of the blue a couple hours later we decide to call this friend because we hadn't heard from him, and end up discussing for the last hour how his life has changed so much...

We sure look forward to spending the evening with him tomorrow..

It's sad enough to lose a pet due to illness or just plain old age...we've done that enough times at our house...but to lose your good kitty friend in such a way had to break your heart. Glad a new cat found you....take good care of Fiona! Sounds like you're getting on an even keel...hang in there!

Glad to see you're returning to some "normalcy". Recovering from such a catastrophe is always difficult - but also easier when you have good friends nearby!

I did not know that you lost your place/stuff in a fire. I'm really sorry to hear that. Sorry about your cat, as well. I know it's tough to lose a pet.

Living situations can change, gear can be replaced - most important that you weren't hurt. From my short time here on AK, i agree - great people. hang in there! :thmbsp:
