Hi everyone,
I found an old thread on the net while trying to hunt down info for my stereo and figured I'd give this a try.
I own a Soundcraftsmen Power Amp MA-5002 stacked with a SP-4002 Signal Processor/Pre-amp and a klh burwen research Dynamic noise filter 1201A.

This stereo was handed down from my pop and all he would ever tell me was that it was a great system for the time. Other than that I haven't been able to find much info on these units.

Lookin to see if any of you older cats can give me a breakdown on my set-up. I have been the owner for the past ten years and I love the overall sound quality (w/L-100's). Everything still functions great minus one pot that snapped off on the amp (a shame!). Any advice on maintenace (cleaning), replacement parts or where I can track down copies of the owners manuals would be greatly appreciated. Just want to learn more about these units. Thanks!!

I believe www.agtannenbaum has service manuals.
Yes, Soundcraftsmen made great gear, I have the MA5002, MA5002A, A5002 and the PA5001, and a pair of PCR800's. Also two preamps, the DX4200 & DX4000.
This gear is still able to provide exceptional sound.
Check ebay, someone has been selling brochures, and may also have owners manuals.

Any ideas on how to replace the pot (I still have it)? It would be nice to adjust the amp, plus I love the dual meter windows!
What's the difference between the MA-5002 and 5002A? The thing weighs a ton and is built like a tank.

Also, any solvents that I can swab the RCA connections with to clean off the dust and film that have collected over time? I don't want to use anything that would damage the connections.

The MA5002A uses LED's like the A5002. All are 250 wpc, they all seem the same inside.
You can use 91% rubbing alcohol, or even spray the speaker outputs with WD-40. Rub hard and thoroughly with a clean cloth.
Swab as you can with a q-tip moistened with the alcohol.
