Would anyone here have some good pics of this cabinet? Also perhaps explain how the 3 pieces fit together, are they glued, fitted, etc.

Thinking about trying to make one, I have some wood working skills, will have to pass on the side plastic vents.

If one cant find one, might as well make one. My new, 2285b, needs wood.

My 1180 DC integrated amp has a similar cabinet (WC-110). I think the WC-122 goes together the same way. These are a three piece cabinet in which the top piece fits into slots in the two side pieces. The 4mm screws (2) on each side clamp the side pieces to the amplifier and onto the top piece. The openings in the top piece have no screen in them they are just large rectangular cut-outs, but with the black steel cabinet on the amplifier it looks just fine! Sorry I have no pictures, hopefully someone else does.

Thanks, that does help. I have found some pics on Ebay, etc.

My main thing is trying to find out how the top fits into the sides. Is it glued? Or is it just resting in there snug?

Its hard to tell what type of groove is used from pics I've seen.

No, it is not glued,at least not on mine. The top piece is only about 1/4 in thick, then the sides of the top are milled down to less than 1/8 inch and fit into a slot cut into the sides. At least on mine, they do not fit snug, there is some clearance as you can move the top back and forth slightly with finger pressure. There is no reason in my mind that you could not glue them, I think it was easier to ship them knocked down when new.

I would make a WC-22 style case instead they look better and will fit.

I actually have a w-22 case I could use for it. I was hoping to keep it as close as it was meant to be.

Plus, I think it would be easier to make the w-122 copy...

I was also concerned about ventilation since they didn't put them in the 22's. Perhaps the cutouts on the bottom are not in the right places or something. The 2285b seems to run warm anyway, want to be careful with it.

It's almost like a tongue and groove setup. The first thing you do is set the top on the case then install the sides with the four bolts. They just slide into each other. I prefer the WC-122 on the b series - they just seem to suite them better. Wish I kept some pics, I have sold a couple on epay. Enjoy your 2285b!!

There are several version of the WC-22. Not all will fit the 2285B properly, especially the holes for the feet and vents.

Exactly,

I was concerned about all the vents, feet, etc, lining up on the 85b.

Besides, looks like the W-122 can be made fairly easily, at least close enough to the real thing. I think some nice walnut wood should do nicely.....

So you guys are saying the sides have a tonge and groove on the edge of the top and the top piece just fits in? no glue, staples, etc?

Yes the stock WC-22 case has different cutouts on the bottom for the ventlation, and the feet line up differently, I have seen a stock case that looks like a WC-22 but fits the 2285 And have also made a few that fit both with a bigger cutout on the bottom and the feet holes.

I recently purchased a 2285B that is currently being serviced. I would like to buy a WC-22 case for it but Onepixel (who is apparently very knowledgable) stated that not all versions of the WC-22 fit the 2285B so my question is, how would I know if one for sale (on an auction site) would fit this model and be able to secure it properly without modifications or would it make more sense to have one made? Thanks.
