Scary that AR9s are being proclaimed as "Only 1450.00". Yikes! Maybe I should have been buying the couple of pairs around here for under 500.00 last year that lingered for a while with no interest. :)

True. Back when I bought mine two years ago they were going for about 500 all day long. Now that more people are hearing them the prices are going up. I think the high for a pair recently was something like 2600!

Yeah, I recall that on ebay and i'm still in disbelief! :)
Nice speakers, though!

Makes you wonder what you should be buying cheap now.

At $500 perhaps a decent deal as the AR9's seem to command quite a high price, but $1,495 is ridiculous, my view. I passed on a pair at $900 considering the asking price to be too high.
Now, I have never heard the AR9's (certainly would like to hear them for myself to determine if they really warrant all the accolades they get) but I have been told by an AKer who has both that they are equivalent to my EPI A500's.
Anyone who wants my A500's for $1,495 I'll through in the packaging for free!! (LOL).
But seriously, $1,495 ? ?

well, I'm trying to get ahold of stuff that I really have wanted to get into the collection now. I figure if I wait too long I'll never be able to afford it. Rotate it through the system for awhile. If I just don't like it, then I'll sell it --otherwise its a keeper :thmbsp:

Scary that AR9s are being proclaimed as "Only 1450.00". Yikes! Those were my thoughts exactly when I saw them. I don't doubt they're great speakers, but the prices for these are just incredible!

What it really comes down to is what your ears think. I've heard alot of speakers, including all the ones I fix and The 9s just do it for me. Non-fatiguing, punchy, great imaging and soundstage. I just like em. Yeah, they need power but I just love the way they sound.
Is it worth 1495? Its all a matter of what you believe they are worth. Listen to a pair on a really nice system and you might think so, you might not --but the used market sure seems to think so. :thmbsp:

The only thing more incredible than the price, is that this thread at some point had seven replies but only three views.........:

You forgot to ask for a beer, as well. It's considered rude to not ask for someone to buy you a beer after insulting speakers. :)

Well, I wasn't joking that there is a pair locally for $900 ask ... won't cost $600 to ship anywhere is the u.s. of a. if you really want a pair.
No, they aren't mine.

They may be a little overpriced, but at least there's a level of performance.
These same people that won't pay, are these the same people who pay hundreds for junker receivers from the 70's that had questionable performance when they were brand new?
