URL removed because it's a scam, quoted text below. Phone number removed.

These Speakers are very rare. They were made in the early 80's. I'm the only owner. They are made of rosewood, and were built with and have the orignal crossovers. They have been taken care of very well the wood is in good condition. The only reason we are getting rid of these one of a kind beauties is we are moving into a smaller place. So we would like to see them go to a good home. This is a sacrafice. For more info please call Mark at XXX-XXX-XXXX Thank you
regular wood designs go for 3 or 4 thousand

Photos, while they still exist:

How do you scam on CL? Do you call and say I'll be over with the cash and they hit you over the head with a bat? slip something in your tea? Rub a narcotic substance on the wood so when you caress it you pass out and they steal your money?

They will respond and say they are out of town and the item can be picked up at the isoldit store they dropped them off at before they left town.

I may be wrong as I often am but to my eyes that does not look like rosewood: Should be darker and redder, like this rosewood cabinet:

I'd say that 90% of the time, you are right. But i've gone through a lot of rosewood at woodworking stores/mills/etc and it can vary from very deep red with deep black grain to being more brown than red and even having non-distinct grain patterns. Some of it depends on the source, the cut of the wood, and that there are a couple of types of wood being called rosewood. All that said, my first impression was the same as yours, it's doesn't look like what I would consider traditional rosewood. The bottom right pic does show the grain pattern that most are familiar with though, so it could just be a very poor picture from teh front.

So then you show up to the store, and ? Sorry, I'm dense.

I guess you're supposed to pay the scammer before you go to the isoldit store to pick them up? I think you'd have to be pretty thick to fall for that.

Do you guys think I should remove the link, since consensus is, it's a scam?

No, the store will be in some city that you are not and they will want payment sent to that store in some format that makes it "easy" to get away with your cash.

It is not a consensus - I know it is a scam.

This probably is the same guy who ran the REL Precedent tuner scam a few months back. Same MO, same verbage, he is still working for the Navy, etc.

The easiest way to know is by frequenting the various for sale and stereo sites. Anytime photos of something paticularly beautiful is posted - it will be in a scam sale a few days later. Ask Barry - he has probably had over half his ebay photos pilfered for various and nefarious scam sales.

And BTW, don't get too upset the link is for a scam. Always try to cover your arse in a transaction by asking a couple trusted souls what their antenna say. It always is good to be safe first rather than sorry.

Go for it.

I still stand by my original Oooh, but I agree the photo looks more like walnut with a little of walnut's creamy sapwood at the edges. I suppose rosewood could have that, but it sure looks like a walnut color also.
