Just picked up one of these today! Plenty big enough for the biggest vintage receiver, and it evens folds up for easy moving/storage!

It's former life was spent as a retail display unit, till it (And dozens more!) were purchased by a local company that buys up old retail display fixtures when stores remodel or go out of business.

Down side is, they are used. So some have signs of use, and the Plexi-Glas shelving obviously took most of the abuse, so they have various amounts of scratching/scraping on them.

But, I think they will polish up well, if you go that route. I'm going to use a spray-on frosted glass finish on my shelves. You could get real glass made up, or wooden, depending on what you like. I think the frosted glass look will be cool.

I snapped a couple of quick pics with some gear on them, so you could get an idea of the size, they are 37"w x 36"h x 21"d.

Let me know if you are interested in getting any of these, and I can provide the info, or grab them for you if you like!

Well, here they are, after a good cleaning, and having the plexi-glass frosted!

I'm into it for less than $20.00, including the cost of the frost!

Oh, I forgot to mention the the feet are adjustable, so you can level it out!

These are a great deal, lemme know if anyone is interested in getiing one/some of these! I'd be glad to send the info, or pick some up for you!

2325fan is already in for one! He will finally have something his big 'ol Pioneer's will fit on!

Gotta get yer butt up here sometime!

Working all weekend this week, so I can't be a gracious host. But if you can get up here, you could get one yerself!

They are only open by appointment on Saturday, so you would need some advance warning.

There was also all kinds of other retail displays that would make really nice gear shelves, as well as media racks!

Almost took home a couple of things! :D

That frosted glass stuff really works good! First time I tried it!

You could do some neat stuff with it, like stencils or borders... Stencil in your favorite audio logo! That would look nice, all your gear on the shelves, with the logo frosted on....:scratch2:

The added benefit of the frost spray was that it hid most of the swirling and scratches, so even without polishing one side, they look presentable!

Just giving this a bump....

I am going back next week to grab a few more, per the request of a couple of AK'ers.

Anybody who wants some, let me know before Tuesday...

I'd take you up on that if I hadn't picked up a really big rack today. Odd timing.

This is my last bump, I promise!

I'm going over to pick up several sets of these for a few members tomorrow, Tuesday, with my still recovering pal 88gibson tagging along for the ride as well.

Anyone wants in, speak now!

I'd grab one too but I'm not sure when the next time I'd be able to pick it up would be. Rustoleum has a "hammered black" finish that would look great on the metal along with that frosted glass.

They have a bunch in stock at this time, so I imagine they will be there for some time. I bet if you checked the phone book down your way or Googled you could find a similar place that sells used retail displays.

The hammered black was my first thought for the metal. It's just for storage right now, but when it makes it out in to the listening area, I will probably make some nice MDF shelves for it, and paint the legs as well.

One of the AK'ers I'm grabbing these for works making Granite counter tops, and is going to make some granite shelves for his! That is going to be nice!

Thanks or the tip. Granite slabs plus a big heavy amp, tuner, etc. sounds awfully heavy though. Check the welds.

Kudos to birddog for this excellent find.

I collected my fixtures this morning, caught up with John and met the actual "birddog" (the animal, that is, not the AK member).

Two thumbs up for John, the pet and the shelves. :thmbsp::thmbsp:

Thanks Peter!

Great seeing you again, and the real "birddog" was glad to make your acquaintance as well!

Hope you like the shelves!
