access gyro tuner on Marantz 2230

How does one access the gyro tuning mechanism on a Marantz 2230 receiver? Take the front plate off? Take the whole case off?

My tuner won't turn past about two thirds to the right. Then, it hangs up and stops. It doesn't appear to be a major problem, but I need to know how to access the drive mechanism.

You can get to it by taking off the top cover.

Sounds like a tuning string problem. Could be something else.

You should watch the top of the dial pointer carefully as you move the tuning control close to where it hangs up, sometimes it's pointer tilts and hangs up on it's sliding groove. Easier to see then discribe but you should probably be able to figure it out, just don't force anything where it hangs as a broken dial string is a tedious difficult thing to restring.
