View Full Version : ESS AMT 3s, I got lucky

Last weekend I responded to an ad in Craigslist for a pair of ESS AMT 3 rock monitors. The owner of the speakers and I struck a deal and I proceeded to go pick them up. On my way there I was contacted by the owner of the speakers and told not to bother to come out to get the speakers. He said, " I went to look at the speakers since I had not seen them in storage for about 4 years". He said when he lifted the grills he saw that the woofers had been damaged by water and he thought they were ruined. In the next comment he said," or you can come and look at them and pick them up for free."
When I arrived and looked at them I saw that the foam was rotted and that was all. Cabinets and grills were near perfect and everything else was in tact. Yep I took them home for free. I will be replacing the foam and enjoying the best speakers I thought I would never find !

now you gotta find a free high powered amplifier to power them :thmbsp:

a few guys on AK have ESS's , so you'll have plenty of help finding suitable gear to power them . . .

Take a look around and you'll find several threads on AMT-3s, with tips on what you'll need to do to get them running correctly, after doing the foam work.

Welcome to the forum. I have ESS speakers too. My mains are AMT-1's but I also have a pair of Performance Series and a set of Rock Monitors that are on the bench waiting to be foamed and repaired. They are very effiencent and just about any amp or receiver will power em nicely. If you need help with the refoam and can get them to me in the KC area LMK.
