View Full Version : MAY 24th - MARKUS AK DAY IN CENTRAL MASS (now with spellcheck goodness!)
markus 04-09-2008, 09:49 PM FINALLY got the date nailed down :
MAY 24TH
TIME:
I figure we'll start around 11:00, and go till whenever
FOOD and DRINK
I'll be able to supply some beer, wine, and soda, and I'd like to suggest a sorta "Potluck" thing for food - Vintageaudio brought some kickass lasagna, and my favorite lurker Ping brought some great wings last year. I figure this way we'll have a little bit of everything. Plenty of people brought additional beverages too, which really helped.
here's a link to my first thread on this - you may have missed it since I spelled my damn name wrong in the title :stupid:

here's a link to last year's festivities to give you an idea of what to expect:

if you're interested in coming, RSVP via PM and I can give you my address & phone number
keep in mind I'm about 15 minutes due north of the Route 90 / Route 84 Interchange in Massachusetts, so if you're in CT, Eastern NY, VT, NH, ME, etc, and you've wanted to meet some AK guys near you, you could probably drop by :thmbsp:
there were plenty of guys last year who brought gear to trade / sell / give away, so feel free to pack your car full of goodies
some guys brought some AMAZING gear to listen to last year too - Allisons, Royds, Soundcraftsman, Magnavox, Fostex, KLH, Advent, RCA, Infinity . . . the list goes on . . . bring your big audio guns and wow the New England AK'ers !
Friends and family are welcome too
I'll update this thread as more people RSVP; as of now, we've got:
birddog
vintageaudio
beemer
2325fan
cabinover
I should be debuting some as-yet-to-be-found audio treasures from Kutztown PA (May 9th & 10th) so C'MON DOWN !
birddog 04-09-2008, 10:00 PM Since you are gracious enough to host, is there a favorite dish I can make for you?
I cook much better than I look! :D

that heart-stopper chili topping was AWESOME last year - I hoarded that in the fridge for about 2 weeks  it went really well with homemade corndogs
sooooooo . . . if anything else you make is as good as that do it up . . . but I wouldnt be opposed to a double batch of evil chili topping :thmbsp:
birddog 04-09-2008, 10:05 PM Evil chili-dog topping it is!
I'll think of something else as well!
thedelihaus 04-10-2008, 01:39 AM I'll start wheeling out your way the 19th of April. I figure that I should get there by the 28th of May, if I work hard enough.
Or... maybe I could build one of these...

You are aware that is Memorial Day Weekend right?
Some people might be headed out of town......some folks have guests for the entire weekend and for anyone coming from out-of-state to your event...traveling may be brutal?
Unforunately I cannot make it that weekend, as I have commitments for the long weekend.....but I just wanted to make sure you were aware.
Bob
botrytis 04-13-2008, 01:53 PM I will be there with bells on - Markus is a great host.
mhardy6647 04-13-2008, 02:17 PM FWIW, there's a decent back route to Markus' for any on the eastern side of MA that might want to avoid the I-84 toll plaza on a holiday weekend.

Sorry for not replying to this sooner - just got back from a weekend in Florida :smoke:
OOooooo . . . thats a good point Bob - especially since I got a wrong date for my wife's reunion - it';s actually THE WEEKEND OF THE 24th (DOH) ! !
Soooooo. . . . here's the plan -
bump it out two weeks to the first weekend of June - June 7th . . .
gives people a little more time to fit it into their schedules too I think . . . (grab that Sharpie again Birddog :D)
I'll start a fresh thread after I get some feedback here

Hoping that day is free, I have a wedding to attend somewhere around that date... On of those "Why the f$ck are these people inviting me?" kind of weddings. Some cousin of my wifes, whom neither of us ever talk to or hang around with, and I would be shocked if they even remembered my name.
I've met the cousin once or twice, but I couldn't pick him out of a line up, hell, I can't even remeber his name at this point!
Can't belive I have to spend a day sweating in a suit, with my wife by my side, while she complains about my trying to make the day seem less like punishment, by having several drinks during the course of the affair.
Keeping my fingers crossed, she didn't write the date down, and she's not home to ask.... Wish me luck!
