I have two systems up and running-
G8000 Sansui driving a pair of Technics Phase Linear ported SB600As, about 16 feet apart in the basement, and a Sansui G5700 driving a pair of Yamaha accoustic suspension NS 670s in the family room, about 8 feet apart.
For soundstage and imaging, I would have thought the further apart (within listening range) the speakers are the more imaging can be developed.
If the recording is a live band with two primary microphones, one on each side of the stage, then that would seem to be the right thing to do (replicate the distance in your playback environment).
But for music that comes from mixing studio recordings of various tracks ,then blended into the final result, the increased seperations may work against the realism one is trying to duplicate.
Any thoughts on this ?
