I just got a new 2270 from craigs list. It is an incredible piece of equipment:tresbon:. I was wondering how hard it is to replace the display bulbs. Also the The FM tuner needs to be aligned. If its not incredibly difficult I would like to fix these issues myself. Also any vintage speaker recommendations for this receiver? Any tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ohh I know you guys love pix so here you go.

You can search the Marantz forum and find a lot of information about how to replace bulbs, some are more difficult than others. If you need lamps pm
dgwojo he will take care of stuff for you.
What is your budget for speakers? What sort of music do you listen to?
Congrats on your 2270 great piece. Cheers

My budget for speakers is around $100-$200. But i would also like to know what brands and models to look out for on ebay and craigslist. I saw a pair of Sansui SP2000s for $50 but they were gone by the time I called the guy. From what I have seen those old Sansui speakers look really cool, I don't know much about their performance though,

If I were you, I'd keep your eyes peeled on craigslist and plan on using all of that $200 budget. The 2270 is one of the best receivers Marantz ever made and deserves a fine pair of speakers to go with.
Sansui made many, many fine pieces of gear but very few good speakers, I'd pass on those. As for recommendations, I'd try it with some large Advents.:thmbsp:

stainless steel grills? I don't think that is stock, although not a tough fix. You may want to start out with a pair of paradigms, easily attainable in your price range. Look for mini monitors, titans, or atoms. You can buy a pair of titans new for your price range. I have a pair and I think they sound great. Another great resource is audiogon. Do a google search for it, lots of good stuff.

The first ones you listed are the ones to get. The later Advents weren't in the same leagues as the originals..Go get em and report back to us..:thmbsp:

This is an informative review of the older Large Advents.

I saw a nice pair of the new Large Advents in Portland's CL about 2 weeks ago for $125. I wish I could have picked them up because I've heard great things about these speakers but I spent my allowance on a silver faced Stack-o-Joy.:tresbon:

Nice 2270. How does she sound? You can mix and match speakers until the cows come home. It all depends on the 2270. I've got 2 sets of JBLs hooked up to one of my 2270s and it sounds awesome. And, my other 2270, I have a pair of Boston Acoustics T830s and a pair of Sansui SPL 100s and it sounds really sweet. I've mixed and matched the two 2270s and I keep going back to my current set-up.
Do you live in or around Washington State? Google Used Victoria
(that's in Victoria, British Columbia) and there are a pair of Big Advents for $99.00 with new surrounds. There are also some Smaller Advents too. Better yet, check out this www.usedvictoria.com and do a search on the site for Henry Kloss Larger ADVENTS.
Remember the prices on Used Victoria are in Canadian dollars. Your buck is worth more. Let us know how you make out? Jay

stainless steel grills? I don't think that is stock, although not a tough fix. Does the bevel on these look right to you guys? It doesn't look rounded the way I thought it should - it looks just angled at 45 deg.: I am wondering if the seller redesigned the bevel, too, to accommodate his "custom stainless steel grille".
If so, wait for an original pair to come around.

There were two different production runs of the Large Advents Njord. One had the rounded edges, and one beveled. These look factory except for the grills, which as stated before is a very small fix.

I have found a pair of Dynaco A-25s for about a hundred bucks. I am waiting for the guy to email me some pics as they are about an hour from where i live. I will put up a picture on here to see what you guys think. I like the Dynacos from what I have seen online they seem like they would be about the right size for my apartment. I would love some big Advents but my neighbors might not take kindly to that.:nono: I gotta say the 2270 make my Yamaha speakers from my old shelf system sound pretty sweet, but i think i can do better:thmbsp:
