I bought two used Marantz turntables ; a 6300 and a 6350Q. Which one should I keep?
I listen to mostly jazz and some classical. What cartridge should I put on the Marantz I keep?

Hey Singer,
I just picked up a 6300. I was fortunate enough to get two Marantz headshells with it. I am currently using a Shure V 15 Type IV (ordered a new Jico stylus for it) and on the other headshell a Shure Mx97e. I wanted to put these two carts head to head and just see what the deal is. I am not a HUGE fan of the MX97e only because it didn't seem to have the same "Life" as some other carts (AT 440mla, OM 30 super etc). So I started with new a new stylus on each and am giving them a decent break in period (approx 20 hours).
To date.... the MX sounds fine. A good everyday, solid cartridge. Easy to listen too. I think it is still shown up by the V15 though. Much more presence and a bit brighter and crisper than the Mx. I do honestly prefer the AT 440mla which is in the same price range as the MX97e. If you want to spend a little more, I lean towards the Ortofon 540mkII, OM super 30, or the AT 150xml. All three are wonderful carts.
I love the 6300. Wonderful table... lot's of wood and lots of fun.
So far very pleased with my recent aquisition!
Hope this helps.
