I ordered the 5 shelf one and just curious if anybody else uses metal/steel shelves to store their vinyl collection??

Yes, I do. But I've found that it "leans" one way or the other because of all the weight. However, mine is steel and glass shelving without the braces I see in the picture you posted. So you'll probably be OK...

I'll find out in a few days once they get shipped to me.
The dimensions on these shelves were just perfect for the size of vinyl records.
It also has braces underneath the shelves that run all the way across.
I'll probably only use the bottom 3 shelves for storing vinyl, and the other top shelves for cd spindle/ music storage.

If the lean is an issue, could you put a 1/4" board to cover the back and attach it all the way around with screws?
If you could, it would stop any leaning.
Please let me/us know how they work out, I need space for overflow myself and those look like they are mighty handy/easy.

I need a desktop/dresser top version of one of those. I have about 140 CDs and 20+ DVDs. My current storage system ran out of space months ago. Good thing my collection grows slowly.

I'd need 4 of the 5 shelf to have a bit room for future only for vinyl...
They look a bit flimsy?

Mine is scheduled to arrive on Monday.
I'll let you guys know if it can hold/support albums once I get it put together.

I think it will be OK since there seems to be a support rod under each shelf

These look great but would wonder about the shelf dimension depth of only 11". Albums are 12 3/8" so you'd have 1 3/8" over hang. Probably wouldn't hurt anything as the weight is centered on the LP. Just my 2 cents.

Can you give us the link to the site? I went to the Mayline site but couldn't find any of the shelving units. Thanks

I'll let you guys know how sturdy this shelving unit is.

I got the shelves assembled and it works great. Really helps to have the back bar behind the shelves. Yeah the albums hang over about 1 3/8" in the front. Seems very sturdy with all the steel bars. Shelves are vacuum formed and very sturdy. Albums fit in perfect. I'll post pics later on today. So far, I'm very happy with these shelves.

Why is it whenever you see a cool looking sunset or sunrise there's always a bunch of wires & poles in the way?

a depth of 13" or 14" would be better... i guess. I like to have my records covered... :scratch2:

I would have liked the depth to be 13" but this shelf unit was a great price and matches well in my room.
Very cool on the dramatic increased :thmbsp:

Very cool, I saw a beautiful sunrise on my way to work the other day but all I had was my crappy camera phone and naturally there were wires and poles in the way.
