I currently have an older Yamaha receiver with Dolby Digital 5.1 hook up through optical and Blue ray.

Would a New 1.3 hdmi, lossless, Yamaha 1800 Receiver, make a big sound improvement in my Home Theater?? (using hdmi with 5.1)

Or, is the improvement only small?

Thanks

I do not have any experience with the Yammy, but I have a Denon 3808ci and the soundtracks sound fuller and better with the lossless tracks in my system.

Thanks uofmtiger.

I am hoping for an improvement over my current old dolby digital receiver.

I purchased an Onkyo 805.(still in box)

I am thinking of getting a Yamaha 1800
(I found a great price on the net for the Yamaha 1800)

If anyone is interested the Yamaha 1800 is staying and the Onkyo 805 is going for a car ride and back to the shelf.

Every complant that I have read has been true.

If it's still in the box, how do you know?
As long as you don't close it in, the 805 should be a great receiver. I know of people at other forums, that has the 805, that are very happy with it.

Does your older Yamaha receiver have 6 channel analog input?
My RX-V1 does and I use the analog inputs.
Does your Blu-ray player have 5.1 analog outputs?
If so, just use the analog outputs on your Blu-ray to go into your analog inputs on your Yamaha.

The Onkyo did get hot, but it did not bother me.
Delay of picture not matching the sound did...
Plus, for some reason, it would not recognize my ps3 or cable input everytime.
