Anyone have a way to test a 6D10 (looks like a triple triode). I'm guessing that maybe it's a compactron base. It has 12 pins, with the pin ring having a diameter of ~ 3/4 inch? My Hickok 800 doesn't even have a socket for it, and I really need to get it tested. I'll be at the fest if that would help? I know I could just buy a new one, but I sort of need it tested for troubleshooting purposes. As allways, thanks folks, Jay

That's a nice triple triode tube. I've picked up some for the Mac MX-110s. They were used in a number of the Ampeg guitar amps, too. I'd suggest you keep a few on hand no matter the status of your testing project.
Cheers,
David

The Ampeg V series and a few others used the 6K11 compactron tubes. I think I may have a few rolling around here somewhere.
Is that out of the Gemini Jay?

I have a Precision 660 with the g140 adaptor the has s special adaptor for testing compactrons but I believe it is just an emission testor. Also, I could not find any info on calbrating it but I did test numerous tubes on it and got similiar results ( i know we are somewhat comparing apples and oranges here) as my TV7 after making a blind adjustment on a pot so I could zero the meter. john

Interesting article via the link above - guess that explains why all the 6D10 tubes I have are GE - they invented the darn things! My Bell 2425 receiver uses one in the multiplex adapter. Wish I could test mine too, but my tester doesn't even have a compactron socket. steve

Steve, that's exactly what I'm working on. My Sams service manual doesn't even show the multiplex adapter, so I'm guessing it was an "option"? Is there any chance you would have any info on it, technical or other? Thanks, Jay

Jay, I don't know if they were optional or not, but I've seen this Bell model with & without the stereo capability - in all other respects though they seem identical, maybe they just slowly upgraded as the technology advanced, but the multiplex adapter and the "stereo sentry light" do look sort of like added on components. I have the original owner's manual that has the schematic for the multiplex adapter and the "stereo sentry light", which was added to the manual as a loose page supplement. steve

I'll check tonight Jay, but I thought my tester would do those, I have some to?
There kinda cool, basically a triple 12at7 in a bottle, one guy I saw made a cool
adapter to run them in an ST-70 VTA front end board, 2 of those instead of the
3 standard 12at7's it used.

They're used in the Eico MX99 MPX adaptor as well.

Jay, if you want to send me the thing, I can check it on the Sencore Mighty-Mite here. Lists the 6D10, no problem.
Regards,
Gordon.

Yep the Knight (KG-600B) tester has settings and the socket for them, so I can
test it as well here on one of my testers. Probably have tested some in the past.

My Knight KG-50 tuner has a 6U10 in it for multiplex stereo. It is a triple triode GE BRAND. Not sure if they are the same pinout, but the 6U10 has 12 pins also.

I'll bring it with me to the fest and maybe something to intice you out of one.:scratch2: I'm guessing that this is why the multiplex stereo setting on this little Bell sounds funny. I can't even really describe it, but everything else works fine (even FM in mono), and this is definately the multi plexer tube.

Well a quick look through my stash I found a 6AC10 (which yes I thought was a sub as well)
Plopped it into the tester and all 3 sections do test very even, at 94, I'll bring it along anyway.
