Motorola SKR155W. Not working. I've got an e-mail/offer in, but am curious if anyone can ID it as a tube unit. Smells like one to me....

I recognise that console. It is a very nice Motorola from the late 50s to early 60s. It has a three channel, 6v6 amp that runs 6 6v6s with 3 12ax7s and a 5u4 rectifier. It has a large 15 inch speaker in the center of the console. Both units I have owned had a big P15 Jensen but I have seen other consoles on line that have had other less desirable makes of 15 inch speakers used. On each end the console has an 8 inch speaker and a small cone tweeter.
The unit also has a very nice little preamp that uses 3 12ax7s and contains reverb as a nifty effect!
The Motorola console is a very nice sounding stereo! If the price is right I'd certainly advise picking it up and giving it a serious listen. Good luck!

That's a 3-channel stereo console, C. 1962. I have one in my listening room.
There are six 6V6 tubes in it, and the reverb is called Vibrasonic. There should also be RCA jacks in the back for connecting a tape deck as well. I have a weakness for these Danish Modern consoles. I picked mine up at the local flea market 3 weeks ago.

Some of the 3 channel consoles used four 6BQ5/EL84 tubes. Two in P-P for the bass channel and one each in SET for the left and right channels.

The cabinet looks soooo nice (mid-century modern, probably Drexel) - and for that reason alone, I'd say grab it. Nice looking cabinets are hard to come by.

Definitely tubed gear. But be prepared to (easily) replace some caps in the amp as well as the ancillary speakers.

Get it!

Apparently they didn't list their minimum of $50 on the ad. I'm going to take a look I think and maybe work them down to $40 if possible. However, this is not a little unit like the RCA I picked up earlier this week, and I was kinda planning on gutting it. I'm toying with the idea of finding an amp that can run all three of my Simplex/Altec speakers. Anyone know if this design has an internal crossover or frequency limiter????

From what I'm hearing, most would say try and keep it intact, right....:sigh:....:scratch2:

The Sams folder is 716-10 - 1964. I don't have that one though.

Tom, you're killin' me! Just out of curiosity, do you have the Sam's for the ASR-433? Mine seems to be louder in one channel recently....:sigh:

Otherwise waiting to hear from the seller....:boring:
