Well, I got a mixer and some mics on Sunday, and I was board and wanted to try them so I set up an XY pair with the mics at my listening spot (useing a milk crate to hold the mics, worked rather well) and then threw in Time Warp and recorded the first two tracks. I am posting this for no other reason than because i felt like it.

Here are the recordings. track 1 (http://www.mediafire.com/?o0fb0bm00qo) track 2 (http://www.mediafire.com/?nmylyzc2n9l)

:scratch2: Also, is it just me or are my mics lacking a bass a bit?

Today i was sweetening a studio recorded, acted scene and was trying to get that ambient sound you captured with your X-Y setup. It was supposed to sound like a TV in the background with StarWars playing. In my case I had to use copyright cleared music from SoundDogs and I EQ it for that TV "speaker' sound. Yours sounds quite good with no phase cancellation. What kind of mics? What was the music source?

Good job, thanks for posting that.

That is what it sounds like. A TV in the background. I couldn't quite place the way it sounded.

As far as capturing it I just set the mics up at my listening position and recorded my stereo playing the music. It was all off a CD. As far as mics, I used two Nady Starpower SP-1's (they can be had for $8 at musicians friend.) I ran them through my Behringer Xenyx 1622FX mixer and then through the UAC200 usb A/D converter into my laptop. The mics were about 8ft back from the speakers so they picked up a lot of the room ambiance.

If you want you can send me the music you need an I can record it real quick and send it back to you. :thmbsp:

Here is a picture of my milk crate mic stand.

PM me with your email address and I will send it to you as an aiff. It is short, about 30 seconds. Do you have DSL? That would be cool if you could do this for me. I will then re-mix this using your room ambience.
