Congrats on the decision to go to school. It will be a lot of work but worth the effort.
I have decided to undergo one last career change to something with better hours and lower stress. I bought my first set of books today on the road to becoming a CPA. I have to take 30 semester hours of accounting classes to be academically qualified to sit for the CPA exam. Classes start next month, in person and on campus. I turn 50 later this year.
This should be interesting.

The books are horribly expensive, considering they are not quite as entertaining as Tom Clancy.
When I was in grad school, what I hated the most were classes where there was a list of books to buy for the class. Especially if they were written by the professor, which always indicated to me that they were padding their income at our expense. That feeling was usually reaffirmed when the superfluous books were barely used during the semester.

They will have to slow down on purpose in order to get caught. Then all I would have to worry about is the wrath of Mama.

Congrats!!!
For me I became unemployed today so that I can become a full time student. I left my job of 8 years to goto school full time.
Luckily the wife makes a pretty decent income so it helps for sure.
Congrats again, itl be tons of hard work but itl be worth it in the end. Or so I have been told.

Taking my classes on the Base so the only coeds to chase are the Navy ones... :puke: Plus my wife might have something to say about that! :smoke:

I guess I am lucky though in the fact the only part I have to pay for is the books.

Congrats! I did the same thing recently myself. I attended college for 2 years out of HS (87-88, 88-89), then took a year off and didn't go back. At 38 I decided time was running out. I have a week left of the semester but I think 4.0 is looking possible for me.
I think you'll greatly benefit from the life experience, and hopefully discipline, that you learned in the Navy. You might find yourself running rings around the kids that came right from HS.

Best of luck, I know how hard it is to return to school after a long time off. I just got done (graduation was tonight!) going to the local college and I am now an RN.
Just remember... you can do it!

Thanks Onepixel,
Not about me, I am just saying that it is possible to finish, I certainly wasn't sure until I did it myself.

Status report?
Of my fellow students, the oldest was born the same year I graduated high school. The others are considerably younger.
