The Philips Museum was gracious enough to put up some really good video, on the manufacture of Mullard valves (tubes) on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV7cimRWah0&feature=related

It's in three parts... links for the second and third part should come up automatically at the end of the first.

I've added a link to it, on my webpage! :thmbsp:

Regards,
Gordon.

Thanks a lot,

Extremely interesting, though the sound is not as good as the picture.
Also, note how they show the valve after each step, but not the actual
tooling used: you don't get to see the spot welder, the induction
heater that flashes the getter, etc.

There is a video of a French ham radio operator building his own tubes,
also worth watching. It was mentinoned a few months ago on audiokarma.

P.S.: I wrote the above after watching part 1 only. The whole film
is definitely much more complete. Watch it to the end!

It makes the price of a tube look like a bargain.
