Anyone heard this album? In 1968, Stephen Stills was in the studio with Judy Collins and snuck off to another room and recorded some demos of song ideas that he hadas anyone else heard this? It is not a great sounding recording, but that's not really the point of this album.

I haven't but would love to hear it. There's an article on wikipedia (of course) with some interesting info...
Stills left the masters in the studio, and they were almost discarded when the facility closed in 1978. Musician Joe Colasurdo, who was rehearsing there at the time, was told by the owner that he could cart off any tapes he wanted to before they cleared the place out. After seeing Stills' names on several of the boxes, Colasurdo kept them safe until he could find a reel-to-reel machine to play them on.
Joe began attempting to get the masters safely back into Stills' hands, an undertaking that took 25 years. In 2003, he was connected to Graham Nash after happening to meet a close friend of his. Nash received the tapes, passed them on to Stephen, encouraging him to release them.
Stills is the only musician on the album. He sings all the songs and plays acoustic guitar and dobro. Treetop Flyer is not from the 1968 sessions.

Makes you wonder how many "lost sessions" are out there.

I saw Stills back around 1980 when I was in college. I also met his sister who was a small time promoter in the Bay Area in the late 70s. Fun times.

$12.99 on Amazon. I like "Stills Alone" a little better but like Meggy said, it is interesting. Even more so when you're listening to it and imagining the circumstances behind the music. Would have been cool to see him plunk down a few hundred bucks and then start doing his thing:music:.......R1
