Ton of pictures from Day 1 here:

http://s279.photobucket.com/albums/kk141/krikor111/2008%20AKFest/

Mostly equipment, but there are a few peeps here and there ... maybe tomorrow I'll get some shots of the sofa side of the rooms. No time to put in descriptions right now and I'll upload to the AK gallery as soon as there is a forum for this year's fest.

BTW... great festival this year. :thmbsp:

Enjoy.

That first picture sure looks like Army's Infinity's and crossover. Is that a pair of Retro's Spec 2's too?

What is that pair of large white headphones in the pic? Look interesting, but I don't know those.

Another question: That site talks about how to get the sand packed into the shelves. It suggests filling the chamber in the shelf, then dropping it vertically against the floor, then topping up the sand again, and repeating this process until the sand doesn't settle down any further. Time consuming. My question is: Can this process be done using a large mechanical vibrating machine/table, perhaps like the ones they use for mixing paints, or for product testing? I see vibrating tables sometimes in surplus places, and might be able to get (or rent) one cheap enough for this purpose, if it would be more effective.

Thanks for the pics, the ladies at the registration desk were so busy that we did not have time to spend in the rooms.

Krikor,
We'll have to chat, turns out we're neighbors. I was the guy running around with the bag of vinyl all weekend. Do you know about our SMAC South-east Michigan Audio Club? We were at the fest in full force. Maybe we will see you at the May event and then there's RidgeStock!

Happy (FESTive) Listening! :beatnik:

Yes, I enjoyed Retro Stereo's and Army's room a great deal; same with Kegger's, dgwojo's, Squidward's and pakprotector's (sorry if I'm leaving some out!).

It was a great Fest and my first!

I got on the SMAC mailing list a few months ago, but I have not been able to attend one of the meetings just yet. On my way back from the AK Fest yesterday I was thinking it might be fun to the rent large room at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center for a SMAC session and have everyone bring in their gear (kind of a mini SMAC Fest).

Does any good audio equipment or vinyl ever turn up at the Ridge auction? I've never attended though we've lived in PR for about 7 years.

Sorry for the late response...

Count me in to help out on a mini SMAC Fest at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center.

And to answer your question, I've not seen any worth while gear or records show up at the auction in thirteen years.

Happy Listening! :beatnik:
