I just picked up a Sansui SR333 direct drive turntable this weekend. The unit looks like it is in good shape but when I hooked it up I discovered that the speed adjuster seems to be out of wack. It adjusts faster and slower but it is very touchy and difficult to get the speed exactly right.

Are there and other adjustments on this unit to get the speed controls a little less sensitive? Suggestions? Any normal maintanience that I should do for it? I'll guess it is about 30 years old but has not been abused.

Are these units any good or are they considered trash??

thanks for your input!

Hi,

Try using some "Deoxit" on the control pot you are turning. You may need to take the bottom cover off and give it a good spray and turn the knob back and forth. This should fix the problem. I have had the same problem with a number of my turntables and this has fixed it every time.

I'm not familiar with that particular model but Sansui made some very good TT's.
