Went to a garage sale last week end and ran into a few vintage items.

Sansui SR333 direct drive turntable
Sansui SC5100 tape deck
pair of Bose 301 speakers

The turntable needs a little help with the stylus and speed control, but should be ok when I'm done.

Tape deck is untested as of today, but looks good.

Speakers are cosmetically only fair as paint was spilled on them, but they sound pretty good (for Bose) in my shop.

total cost for the bunch - two bucks!

Nice components, and I would definitely give $2 for everything.....

I've been eyeing a set of beat-up 301 speakers, but I'm having trouble with the $50 that the owner wants.

I'd call score at $0.66 per item ;) :thmbsp:

Might as well just finish painting the speakers. They would look good in black. Did the TT have a working cart?

The turntable has a Shure cartridge, the stylus was bent, but I just straightened it out. The speed control was funky but good advise from BeEvil to deoxit the pot worked perfectly. The unit now works great.

The speakers do need some help, perhaps black paint is the way to go, or new wood sides?

The tape deck I think I will sell as I don't use tapes. Anyone know what the Sansui tape deck is worth?

For the SC-5100, I find no completed auctions, so I can only base on ones currently running - in the opinion of those 2 sellers, somewhere between $125 (http://cgi.ebay.com/SANSUI-SC-5100-Cassette-Tape-deck-Vintage_W0QQitemZ170215026755QQihZ007QQcategoryZ71 574QQcmdZViewItem) and $350 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Sansui-SC-5100-Cassette-Deck-120-240-V-selectable_W0QQitemZ320164340670QQihZ011QQcategory Z4784QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem). Hope that helps somewhat. Great finds!

The tape deck will be best positioned at someone who is looking to complete a Sansui rack system, of all period pieces. It was a good tape deck of it's day, but there were better.

$2? Only in America.

Those 301īs are pretty nice sounding, despite Boses bad reputation just about everywhere.
