I have; Sherwood amp model S5000 also Sherwood tuner model S2200.
I also have an Akai model X330 RTR tape recorder with internal amp
and speakers. I would say the amp and tuner are in poor condition
some rust and corrosion. (Tubes still light up). The RTR is in much better shape but may need some attention. Any one know what they are worth?

Welcome HBJim,

Not sure of the values other than what you can research online from the auction and audio related sites.

Just a word of advice. The mebers here are very accomodating in answering audio questions and will even give ranges of values when they are known as someone here is always knowledgeable. However, it is best to to do an actual introduction of yourself and interests and become a part of the AK community. Many are reluctant to give info on pricing until they get to know you and that you are not just a hit and run looking for free advice w/o being part of the overall group.

Stick around for a bit and do some research, ask questions.

Overall, the value is what someone is willing to pay based on condition or rarity of the equipment. Your pieces are not extremely valuable and the ccondition will have a major affect on the final price.

Nice amp and tuner -- you'd need to post some pics though for us to be able to provide meaningful valuation advice. I just bought an eBay amp that was described as "fair" and somewhat talked-down in the description -- I got it today and it's in absolutely fantastic condition by my standards.

Welcome! I'm pretty much the self-proclaimed NASCAR Redneck! Though, they're others about:thmbsp: I thinks ya got some nice lookin' rigs there, I would use the search function and clean and keep 'em. Pay close attention to the warnings about working on tube equiptment, for your safety.

I'd clean and keep them. That Akai X-330D is NOT something that you see everyday, and if it works, you've got something VERY special.

I hope that you get some good vintage speakers and enjoy the heck out of them.

Just looking at the pics, I can tell you that I would be surprised if that amp/tuner worked, especially if you happened to plug it in without first cleaning and drying it out. Old tube gear like this that has been sitting in storage, especially non-climate controlled storage, should not even be plugged in or operation attempted until the unit has been cleaned and the boards dried out and tested. There are threads here that will explain how to bring vintage tube gear out of storage.

The tape deck is a kinda rare one, but there are no doubt condition issues there as well, especially if it's been sitting in the same storage environment as the other gear. The heads are corroded, the belt is likely gone and the controls are all gunked up.

If you're planning to keep this stuff and bring it to life then your probability of success will be directly related to your knowledge and experience working on vintage electronics. As is, IMO this gear should be assumed to be in non-working condition and could therefore only be sold (fairly) for parts.

Howdy everybody; Very happy with your responses.
Hey Aage; Da hillbilly wife cain't spail. She means well.
StarMover; The Akai actually still works, I played a tape
after cleaning the heads, the quality isn't awsome so, I
know you are right, needs lots of work. I think I'll keep
all this and fix them. Will be searching for helpful threads
when I get a chance. Can't get on here often, Jim
