ok i got my kenwood 600 up and runing replaced the main filter caps new caps on the driver boards and recapped thprotection board and put a new power switch in thank echo wars well i turned the unit on played it for five minutes and i heard a pop and smoke came from the amp and i looked it blew capcitor c28 and cooked diod number 10 this is puzzing to me bcause it was playing fine and it didnt blow any fuses

If you replaced C28 (power supply board, I'm assuming), sounds like you installed it backwards.

here are some pics of the board i put the caps in the way they are marked on the board i orede new cap and new diods be in monday on this board on number six trace it has neg voltage comming into the postive side of the diod int to the neg side of the diod then it shows going into to the pos side of the cap the way the board is marked is the way i put the caps in c28 here are the pic

Does the schematic match the board layout? From my poorly saved schematic I see C28 positive leg from diode Dz10. There are also two resistors in parallel on this trace, one of which is a 2w. resistor. If that resistor failed you should get a lot of nice smoke.

kenwood 600 is up and singing again put new diod new cap in:music:
