I know I've met some weird sellers and strange CL postings, but what gives here?

Could this be the real Audio Nazi, a close cousin of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi? :scratch2:
You have a Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo email address? NO GEAR FOR YOU!! :nono:
No problem, I'd probably breathe in a slightly offending manner and he'd sic the Pit Bulls and Marine on me. :lmao:

"Enough old gear to make you cry,
Tube boxes stacked ten feet high,
Freebie emailers need not apply,
Modern paranoid audio-selling guy!"

You try to spend time in the Marines in a warzone, then come home and run a pop stereo repair place for a couple decades. Sounds like a gentleman who knows what he will allow, doesn't need to take grief from anyone, and will be glad to send whiners packing. He doesn't package things the way most people are used to seeing, but you aren't going to bullshit him, either.
Not everyone is a people person(and I have met some engineering types who are really out there!) but if you get to know him beyond how he writes, he is good people, I've been told. Sounds like he values his gear and feels certain folks wouldn't mind stuffing a few Telefunkens in their pockets while in the building. I shudder thinking of some of the St. Louis estate sale regulars trampling unimpeded through my house after my demise.
I love dealing with Marines. They are honest to a fault, forthright, and have a unique manner of dealing with fools and tire kickers.

Sounds mighty strict, but pretty fair in some respects -- he has some interesting stuff there. I myself wouldn't mind an MR67 for 50% the going rate...

Okay, it seems as though I might have stepped on some toes here. I am not out to talk down any branch of the military. He didn't even list a Marine specifically.
The main fault I find is his complete refusal to deal with anyone who uses free email (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.). Sorry guy, but there's a lot of people out there who DO use those as primary email addresses though I'm sure that will not hurt his sale as there are plenty of people who have paid email.
For those unfamiliar with the state of MO, St. Louis is over 100 miles to the east of Jefferson City. The Columbia/Jeff City area has it's own craigslist and all he did was post a link to the ad he posted on the St. Louis craigslist site.
He's never heard of copy and paste I take it?

I'd be at that sale in a heart beat.. with lots of cash, and pooped out before hand..

Mark, his Craigslist post has been flagged twice in St. Louis, so it seems reasonable that he followed Craigslist rules and NOT cut and paste for Columbia CL.
It also is a choice to avoid many of the scammers who use the various cut and run generic email services. If you need the sale information, I would be glad to forward it to you when I get it. He is between Fulton and Jeff City, so it's an easy drive from just about all of Missouri. Don't forget your cash.
He has a lot of good tubes and electronics there, so it makes sense to let people know he doesn't welcome uninvited guests. He is in a part of Missouri where hunters trespassing while hunting get a warning shot, and if they don't turn 180 degrees, get a second shot coming their way.

Good for him, straight forward and clear advert, if a bit lengthy. I don't blame him for trying to weed out the annoying types and the criminal element.

I actually like his approach if you have to do this kind of sale. ...I think some measures like these are needed before allowing estate sale regulars onto your property, good to layout the ground rules and save on some headaches. ...But I'd avoid hosting a sale like this like the plague, I think I would list/sell individual pieces.
I love dealing with Marines. They are honest to a fault, forthright, and have a unique manner of dealing with fools and tire kickers.
I'd expand this to all military, I've had great deals, clear and straightforward communication. A deal is a deal with these folks, you set a meeting time and you can count on it. :thmbsp:
I use a "free" email as my primary address. Have been for 8 years. I also pay my broadband account, in my name, every month, on time. I could use that account for a primary email, but choose not to. I have had the same cell # for 5 years also. I gave my neighbor his bank and credit card statements when they were mistakenly put in my mailbox earlier this week. I am a very honest person. That being said, I guess if I had $10,000 in cash, my money would be no good there.
I do understand his reasoning to keep the Craigslist bottom-feeders away, but feel he needs to relax a little with the email qualifications.

If he's the guy I think he is, I've been in his place, and he's got DRAWERS and drawers of tubes. Having been there, I actually think it's a pretty good setup for the sale, although he does come across a bit harsh. The whole STL listing thing is kinda weird, but I guess if you can't duplicate listings you go for the bigger market so that makes sense.
Y'all come. I won't shoot ya. I'll be gone out of the feckin' state that day. Otherwise I'd invite yous over to visit after buying your goodies. I'm only 30 mins away.

Most of us have a work e-mail. For purely logistical issues, I wouldn't have a problem using my work account, or mail him initially from your work e-mail, and then ask to switch to your private e-mail....
I'm kinds tempted to e-mail him to see if he'll mail order some tubes.....:scratch2:

It's his sale, he knows what he's got and he calls the shots--
I for one, am all for protecting one's own.
I tend to shy away from selling on CL and inviting strangers into my home. Ebay seems to work out much better for me, but then ya gotta pack it up....
I like it-- he ain't pullin' no punches. Too bad he's so far away -- I bet he would be a great guy to sit down and shoot the breeze with and learn from.

...Said he'd see what was left after the sale. Seems like a straight up guy....
