I picked up an original 1967 The Moody Blues/Days Of Future Passed, with the London Festival Orchestra backing them, and I'm just curious if this is kinda rare or not. :scratch2: It's not exactly mint, but in pretty good condition for being 40 years old, and the cover is badly worn on the edges, but very good on the faces (?). I know it was worth $1 to me, and I don't plan on selling it, but I'm curious about it's value, if any. ;)

I have the same LP in pretty good condition. I also got it for a buck. I see it off and on, so it's probably not all that rare. The orchestration is wonderful.

I'm gonna have to play it now. Enjoy!

Thanx onepixel. I dunno what made me think it was rare at all, lol, but it's definitely a classic, and like I said, a keeper. :smoke:

That a keeper.

I have found two of them, original Deram, in recent months, both with glossy mark-free vinyl. I think is was pretty high seller that never got the play and abuse of the Stones and Zeppelin albums. Thus, they can be found.

Original US Stereo versions of this album are not difficult to find (except in clean to very clean condition). What are difficult to find, in any condition, are:

- original UK Stereo version: Deram SML 707

- original UK Mono version: Deram DML 707

- original MFSL Stereo release: MFSL 1-042

Seconded. I see a ton of those. I think that what is more important is that it's a great record =).

I found both the tape and the vinyl recently. Gawd, that one takes me back. I remember several rock groups using orchestras pretty effectively in that time period: Procol Harum being another one that comes to mind.

AHA, this is the UK stereo Deram version, so I was right to scarf it. :D BTW, there was a lot of old Polka stuff there too, if anyone's interested.

Hi,

Special note: The UK Deram pressing in Stereo is miles superior to the US Deram pressing. Ingrid and I have German, UK Mono, and Stereo, and Dutch Stereo original pressings of this as well as the MFSL LP. The re-mix is preferred by us. The original West German Deram CD is superb sounding on a nice rig. :tresbon:

Cool... I have the UK Deram Stereo too! The intro is amazing.

I heard Days Of Future Passed (CD) on tcdriver's multi-channel system and that gave it another incredible dimension.
