Marantz 3800 $750!!

Seems like an awful lot for this unit. I sold one in great shape for a bit more than half this amount a few months back and thought I did pretty good. It is certainly a nice looking, well-made unit with many cool features but I thought the sound was just so-so. It seems the U.S. made separates really bring premium prices...

Yes, that is a lot of money. I have one I bought at a YS and have followed the prices.
It didn't even have a wood cabinet. Usually, like you said, they go for half that.
