Picked up a CD of Shelby Lynne's "Just a Little Lovin'" based on a review in one of the stereo magazines. Glad I did! Some of the songs are really good. It's dedicated to and partially reprises Dusty Springfield's "Dusty Goes to Memphis" album.

Since I liked the replica so much, I go and buy Springfield's work on new, "audiophile" vinyl last night.

Big disappointment. AM-ish sound quality, over-styled (and over-rated) singing, layers and layers of strings and backup instruments. I'm not liking it although the vinyl is a clean pressing.

However, it was great to hear "Son of Preacher Man" again. I keep wondering, I'm the nephew of a missionary man - does that count?

"Just a Little Lovin'" is definitely recommended.

I am also very pleased with Shelby Lynne's covers (and 1 original, I believe) on Just A Little Lovin'. I really like Dusty Springfield's voice and songs, and I'm actually trying to find some clean original copies of her stuff on vinyl.

Highly Recommended! :thmbsp:

All of her solo efforts are worth owning...I think she is truly one of the best out there at what she does and what that is I'm not exactly sure...but I know it when I hear it.
