Old reel to reel tapes

I have a lot of old reel to reel tapes since 20 years ago.
I want to know if is better to erase them before done a new recording or not.
This tapes was recording once upon time.

Generally if you happen to have a bulk eraser that would be the quickest and most thorough way to erase them..... I don't own one, so I just erase over stuff as I record something new on a tape. Besides sometimes, I don't want to wipe out the whole tape.

Do what works best for you. If you find your hearing the other side playing back in reverse or the previous recording bleeding through a rerecorded section then a bulk eraser would be the way to go.
