Just acquired a nice pair in excellent condition yesterday at a yardsale. This is my first pair of horn speakers, and my first Klipsch product. Unfortunately, they did not come with a manual. I am seeking any advice/suggestions I can get on set-up, especially with regard to recommended spacing between speakers, distances from side and rear walls, toe-in, etc. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Tedrick,

The set up that works for me and my 10 watt SET amps in my 18 by 14 room. I have my Fortes on the long wall about 9 feet apart about 1.5 feet out from the rear wall to take advantage of some real low end grunt. So that leaves some 4.5 feet from the side walls. I sit on a leather couch some 10ft away I also have my the Klipsch's tilted back raised about 1in in the front. I conducted some frequency response tests and found a rising top end with the
speakers toed in so I faced mine straight out with the stock tweeters until I got Bob Crites Titaniums in which are dramatically smoother.

I prefer symmetrical room boundaries for the Fortes at least! to get the best imaging otherwise suck outs will occur. I have a very nice center image as well as great spacial cues as to the size of recorded space. Just jaw dropping to this day.

I also use Corner Tunes at the ceilings corners to prevent the room megaphone effect bass traps are another good idea as well but I haven't tried them as of yet. I have some Monster Acoustic Panels on my back wall which is very effective at treating echo slap. If I had my way I'd put them between my speakers so that it would create better defined imaging not that it is bad for me now but after few experiences with other systems I think it would be very advantageous.

My amps generate a very large sound stage with the Forte's often times extending laterally 50% of the rooms width on each side of the speakers with great depth as well.

My Fortes are highly modified and are very competitive with other speakers costing thousands.

If you care to take a look at my thread below.

I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be so thrilled at these Forte's.

The more I do for them the more they return to me.

Good Luck!
