No this is not a thread about the Jeffersons.

I am just super-excited because I'm busy today moving my rig UPSTAIRS!

Back into the LIGHT!

:)

I casually slipped the question past my wife whilst driving home from an Omaha trip, and she sighed. "Where are you going to put it? We have no space in the living room".

"How about the new reading room"?

"Fine".

Whoo-Hoo! Our "reading room" is the room connecting our livingroom to our kitchen; I suppose it's technically the dining room, but our kitchen is so big the table fits in there. So, add 2 leather Laz-E Boy recliners; some bookshelves, couple of lights and wallpaper: Viola! Reading room; now with tunes.

:)

My Mancave is still full of manly sh!t, I just have been sick lately w/all the dirt and dust that settles on my equipment. And, as I haul gear upstairs, it sure looks like I have PLENTY of leftover gear to rig-up a system for the cave. As a matter of fact, when did I get 8 pairs of speakers? Used to only have 2. Why do I have a stack of 5 recievers? Is that really a working 8-track recorder and 20 tapes?

The sickness spreads.

Well, back to work! Gotta get this set up before she comes home and changes her mind! Uggh, 80-pound Coral's are next up.......

Peace!

So... what is going upstairs. I used to start with a receiver, cd or some other media, TT and some speakers, next thing you know its a frickin wall of voodoo. Needless to say I am back in the basement. Its ok because I just got my mancave framed and will be finishing it this summer. So many choices.
You going to use old cables or buy all new?

Bare-minimum upstairs. Coral BX-1500's, Adcom GFP-565 and GFA-555 II, a Nak OMS-1A, and my Thorens TD-160. And some big honkin' cables from Lowe's, lol.

Just got done spinnin' the Gorillaz Demon Days on LP; gawd-DAMN it sounds so good!

I've thought about getting an 8 track. I just haven't found a decent one in the thrifts yet. My wife wasn't thrilled when I suggested that the system in the living room would one day be set up to play almost every kind of medium available. The look on her face when I started talking about 8 tracks and reel to reels was priceless.

Sorry dude. But they built the Home Depot here where there was a cattle stockyards for about the last 40 years. The smell has not departed.

And hey; I work at Perkins, but I really don't care if you eat at Applebee's.

Matt:
"Bare-minimum upstairs." is a great way to start. Nice quality looking system, providing enjoyable music and not overwhelming the room and she will enjoy it too. Keep your part of the 'bargain', limit it to bare minimum and swap as you want. Maybe she will take an interest in the changes and help you decide what sounds best. Yes the trip back from Omaha did the trick.
