This is too cool.
I noticed it during orientation but it wasnt open. Since I get to school early I just sit and goof around on the laptop and wait for classes.

This morning I hung around long enough for the listening room to get opened. Basically they have headphone listening stations and a larger pair of monitors. You can request a CD (thousands to choose from) or for them to put on a record and listen via the large stage monitors.

Granted its not the greatest sounding place but it sure beats the MP3 player.

Now I wonder who I need to talk to about getting some nice tube gera and VOTT in here. :thmbsp:

That's a very cool feature, and one that I'm sure many schools don't offer!

Might be a neat place to get acquainted with some unfamilar music...I'd be asking for some recommended orchestral and older jazz...I don't know anything about either, and the riht librarian could spin some amazing stuff for you!

Enjoy that library!

back in the '70s the U of MD (college park) had a listening room. all i remember was the 4 JBL L100s hung in the corners. i dont remember the source though.

I know that I just turn the theater/orch room (with my long desired Advents) and the Band room with JBL L-somethings on the walls into listening rooms whenever I am around...I always have some interesting music to play.

Great resource!

I wonder how I can make it sound better, for me at least. It seems they have XLR cables run everywhere going to rack mount headphone amps.

While nothing was playing I heard some jazz bleeding over and a lot of background noise.

I wonder if there is a portable headphone amp that I can use to help clean the noise up.

Any ideas short of recabling the place with shielded cable.
