Attached are some shots of my antennas before being raised tomorrow. Wheather permitting.

Horizontally stacked UHF Yagi's (Antennas Direct XG-91's at 39 inches)

APS-13 FM Yagi.....17 feet.

Does it pull in WKRP..in Cinncinati.:lmao: I've been eyeballing the ASP-13 myself to go on top of a 50' tower /w a rotor. How high you planning on putting up yours?

Cincinnati is 170 miles from me the way the crow flys. I'm not counting on it, but am hoping for Dayton/Columbus/Cleveland at 125 miles.."ish"...haha.

Too much wind last week for my antenna guy. Hoping for calmer winds in the next few days. I'm paying $40/Hr to keep my 240 pounds at grade!!

My APS-13 will be at about 43 feet. Six feet under the horizontally stacked UHF Yagi's (XG-91). I purchased an eight foot, 1.25 inch OD, chrome molley tube, 0.095 wall off of a supply house on eBay. ($35). The stacking brackets and fiberglass horizontal beam I'm using for the UHF's are designed for 1.25 inch OD tube. Hoping for greatly improved off air HD reception on my Dish 722.

Didn't see WKRP on "radio-locator.com"....haha. Can you receive it from your location on skip??? (or time warp....haha).

Thanks,

Bill (Marconi)

lol. That's a great looking antena.

I'm from Cincinnati and somehow never heard WKRP...

Attached is a photo of the new antennas raised.

Discovered the old Channelmaster UHF/VHF combo with a pre-amp had the FM trap switched ON.

90 miles isn't bad for a 42 foot piece of coax to the pre-amp (or whatever the FM trap let through).

Still can't get WKRP....haha. Maybe I need one of those low noise GaAs (gallium arsinide, spelling?) FET preamps and another 30 feet??

I'm a new APS-13 owner (at 43 feet), most likely great conditions to the south.....but I'm listening to WEBN, 102.7 FM, from Cincinnati Ohio. 170.4 miles from Whitehouse, OH 43571, per radio-locator.com.

No WKRP, but I am listening to Cincinnati as I type. Stereo will lock in (auto tune mode), but not hold and is noisy. I am getting fade about every 6-8 minutes, which means some noise in manual tune, Mono mode, and drop out in stereo (auto tune) mode. No dead time for close to an hour (in Mono).

I'm using a Yamaha RX-595 stereo receiver. (My recently purchased Yamaha T-85 from eBay is in for alignment :thumbsdn:).

This RX-595 is a bit of a sleeper as I suspected. I kept it because the tuner in my RX-V2500 surround receiver sucked by comparison. The RX-595 has issues/problems with bleed-over if there is a powerful station 200 khz away, but VERY sensitive (0.8 uV useable sensitivity). The bleed over is much more pronounced with the APS-13.

Cincinnati is almost due south of me. That's where I place my "zero" on the rotor. In trying 0-10 degrees, verses 350-360 degrees on the rotor setting, I had to "swing" the antenna around the whole polar plot several times. The APS-13 would pull in 5-6 stations around the swing (left tuned to 102.7 FM), including one just off north that pegged the meter (100%). That's my unsolicited testimonial regarding front to back rejection of an APS-13.

OK, I'm rambling as my wife would say.

APS-13...having fun with the new toys.:thmbsp:

Jan Smithers was nice too.

I was a young rocker at the time.

I'd have to go with Dr. Johnny Fever. Also thought the fake office boundary from Les Nessman was cute. Old office humor.

Jennifer (Loni Anderson) was too "made up" for me.

Just one mans opinion.

WEBN is still coming in tonight (Mono). OK, not as strong, but I know were to find it.

So it's unclear: are you using an RF preamp, and if so, how near the antenna is it and what is it? Phil

Nice work Marconi.

Too bad the best station (WOXY) here in Cincinnati is only available in HD and internet. Regular terrestrial signal gone for several years.

Good job though!

No RF preamp with the FM Yagi (APS-13).

The UHF Yagi's on top have a signal combiner and Channelmaster preamp.
