Ok so just about any thing can be made into a record weight.

In my case, I come across a lot of plumbing type fittings and other

parts from costly fixtures etc. Most of which I just toss.

Recently I have been on the lookout for things that might lend them selfs
to my objective, a record weight that looks as if it was manufactured
for that purpose.

Here I have an example that turned out better than it started out.

Parts used were a brass test cap form a wall mounted faucet,
and an optional escutcheon base, and the filings from brass impellers,
thats another story.

So put these together with some slow set epoxy and paint, and you
have a color matching record weight that works rather well.

Beautiful job. You should be proud, as I am a slight bit envious.

You did real well!

Nice job there totem

I'm like you, DIY works for me

Mine is pretty straight forward
4" angle grinder pad replacement from the dewalt store($4.99) and am antique brass cabinet pull from Home Depot(FANCY-5 bucks, I believe)
Used a grommet cover to fill up the top hole and allow for the handle screw to mount, filled the bottom void with some lead fishing weights-finished of with a water hose washer on the bottom
weighs in at 6.7 oz

Very nice job, totem! For my "found object" TT clamp, I have a flywheel weight off a tuner knob. Lined the hole (and the bottom) with self-stick craft foam.

Great ideas, what else have others made into TT weights?

Bring them on!

Just a little off topic here, what should a clamp weigh to be effective? I am concerned about overloading the motor or bearings. I have a Project Debut III and was wondering how much weight it can take safely.Like the flywheel idea, super simple.

I don't know whether it's needed or not really, but when I started using a weight I took to giving a little "push start". I was using a belt drive then but I still do it with my Akai DD. Well at least it can't hurt.

Ask and you shall receive Windwalker.

Approximate weight is 300 grams, got rid of my accurate scales long ago.

The base does have a recess for an O ring, but I have yet to put one in.
