If I sand off the rust for an amp chassis, should I seal up the areas I sanded, or just not worry about it?

Yes, unless you change it's habitat dramatically, it will likely rust up again, with time. A clear lacquer will stop it.

A little Naval jelly will remove most rust, less disruptive than sanding...

The thing is that I bought this amplifier with rust on it, from what looks like was a damp location, and as long as I own it, it will be dry. I figured a good coat of clear lacquer would do it, just to be sure.

Where can I get Naval jelly in Toronto? I've heard great things about it but I can't find a single store that stocks it.

Thanks!

Linseed oil does a pretty good job of preventing rust, without build up.

Alright, I sanded all the rust away and put down two thin coats of clear lacquer. Thanks for all the help!

So far none of the threaded holes are clogged up.
