Today, I got my Sony TC-WR535 back. It was the first tape deck I ever bought, got it new @ Sears back in 1993; think I paid $199.99 for it. I let my brother keep it about 8 years ago when I got my NAD. He was selling it @ my folk's garage sale this weekend for $25. When he found out I'd like it back if it didn't sell, he yanked it from the sale & kept it for me! What a guy!

This evening after I got it home, I brushed the dust off, cleaned the heads, & popped in a cassette. Sounds as good as ever. I only had one problem with this deck, that was when I first got it. One of the wells wouldn't have any high-end when you'd play a tape. It was still under warranty, so I took it to Sears for repairs. They said everything checked out & the guy said "Are you sure the treble isn't turned down on your amp?"

It was obvious he never put a tape in to listen, so I called this friend of mine & explained what was wrong. He told me there is a small screw on the tape head that I could turn to align the head. I got a small precision screwdriver, gave it a slight turn, and all of the sudden I could here cymbals, piano, etc.. That's what was wrong; the tape head wasn't aligned properly! It's been trouble-free ever since.
