WOW !!
I just got my lp12 back from Casey at Ne Plus Ultra, in from reconstructive surgery. The cartridge only has 5 hours on it so far but, after
1. Valhalla upgrade w/ new motor this after coming from original motor and control board from circa 1979.
2. Lyra Dorian
3. New Springs and Cartridge and being taken care of by Casey
4. New (Demo) Ear 834p
My cat knocked the diamond off my Grado Sonata, my fault, I left cover up.:tears:
What I can't get over is how much more quieter the noise floor is.
The ear blows away the phono section on my c220. Everything seems whole. On the new box set from the Doors, "Rider's on the Storm" it just let the speakers start to disappear, quite easily in fact. The soundstage is really amazing. I can play at much lower levels, now in the high 20's compared to 40's before. Upper-limit is 100 on the c220 for volume control.
I think the clarity and "neutrality" of the Lyra mixed with the EAR really is amazing. It's just a first impression, but the LP12 seems quite deserving of it's vaunted reputation.
