In defense of the unfortunate driver, it was a wheel-stand contest, so I imagine that the bars were removed, as well as other changes made to the set-up. No one in their right mind would set up a car like that to make a regular pass...

Go to youtube, tons of great vids on wheelstands/crashes, etc...

I've never understood why so many guys abuse their cars entering into wheelie contests. I love drag racing with a passion but it's sad to see so many cars getting wrecked in these contests.
