Hi...
Anybody know anything...specs, etc...on the Fisher RS-2002? Just picked one up today. I works beautifully...just had to replace left speaker fuse. They had this paired with vintage B&O speakers which I assume caused it to blow the fuse since the woofers need re-foamed badly! Sounds VERY GOOD on my Cerwin-Vega's. Any info. would be appreciated!!
Thanks...

Hi TTurner,

I did a little hunting around and it seems that the 2000 series of Fisher receivers coded their model numbers base on wattage. The 2002 was the lowest powered unit at 20 watts/channel. 2003 was 30 watts, the 2010 was 100 watts. Hope this helps, the main thing is how does it sound to you? I recently picked up a Fisher Studio Standard integrated amplifier CA-273 and the matching tuner FM-273 at a garage sale. They were dirty, but not damaged. Just gave it a second cleaning today, and if it doesn't get scratchy it is a keeper. It has a great sound, much better than I expected. Good luck with yours!

20 WPC is what it is rated at.

Thanks for the info! 20 watts...thought it had more as it's very loud with the volume up only a little. It sounds great to me...it has been making my Cerwin Vegas talk like I haven't heard them before. Great low end and high...stereo separation, etc. I had a Technics SA-202 driving the Vegas...the Fisher makes them sound quite a bit better.

First off welcome to AK. :thmbsp:

The RS-2002 is the lowdog of the 20xx line. We have three RS-2010's rated 100 WPC and I found the RS-2015 to be an overall better sounding unit. Though the RS-2015 150 WPC receiver is the badboy of the 20xx line, IMO I feel my RS-1060 and RS-1080 are the better sounding of the TOTL model Fishers. I lean towards the RS-1060 as my favorate receiver in my collection. Though it's rated less than my RS-1080 170 WPC unit, the RS-1060's 125 WPC still makes the biggest smile come to my face each time I use it. :music:

Again, thanks for all the info on my Fisher RS-2002.
I have another question. Which would be the better receiver to hang onto...for any & all reasons. The Fisher or my Technics SA-202? Does anyone prefer one over the other? I would love to hear your responses...it'll help me make up my mind!! I am also considering an ADC SS-315X Sound Shaper Equalizer and a Sony SAQ-411 EQ. Again...any preference?
Thanks....

Hi Tom, I'd keep the Technics, just because I like the looks better and it has a wee bit more power, spec wise. Plus you can sell it for more money when the time comes. I only use parametric EQ's cuz I'm a snob, J/K, I think the ADC looks better as well, they both will adjust the sound exactly the same, your call on that one.

Thanks Craig. I was leaning toward the Technics anyway. You're right...better looks and even a wee bit of power is better. I am considering an EQ because I became spoiled recently. Had a Sony for about a week...first time I ever used one. I was really impressed with how much it improved the sound of my speakers. I sold that one and now...well I gotta get another!!
