How do you safely get rid of this damn thing. I somehow managed to pick this up on my computer today. I have managed to block it, but it is still changing my home page, and redirecting my searches. I ran spyware that I have through Verizon, but that did nothing but detect it. I will run a virus scan next, but I have a feeling it won't do the trick either. Anybody. Removal Tool? I am not an IT Pro.

give that a shot.
probably the best free antispyware software that exixts.
after installation, update it fully.
once thats done, you can run a scan and remove that baddie.
also, if you have MSN, I can help in preventing it from starting up by giving instructions on how.

Download a Linux live CD, like Knoppix, or Ubuntu and run it. You'll be able to browse your HDD and manually delete the file without Windows stopping you.

Problem solved. I had to contact my Internet Provider. Verizon Fios Tech Support. A very nice Asian lady temporarily installed Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Super Antispyware Professional Trial Version, and Windows Cleanup software on my PC. The removal process took 2 Hours. Tech support clearly has access to Software that must be purchased otherwise to get rid of crap like this Braviax. After running Windows Cleanup, and Malware, she ran Super Antispyware. The Super Antispyware picked up "Trojan.SoftCachier-Installer/A". And removed it. Unless you really know what you are doing, I would not recommend trying to fix something like this yourself. -Mark-

MajorGeeks malware forum is a good place to go for this sort of thing.
They usually have instructions for just about anything that comes up along with links for general and specific removal tools.
