a couple of months ago i bought a pair of infinity rsa speaks. i passed them up for a couple of days as they needed a refoam. they seemed forlorn sitting there in the thrift store. so i bought them. i hooked them up one at a timeto make sure they work. yep they did. including the emits. so i shelved them while waiting for the foams to arrive. gott here 2 weeks later. so the next couple days i worked on them patient for the foam to dry as i didnt want to screw them up. the photos supplied are the finished product.

ill post the before during and after but i gotto download them to camera to change their size.
these are sweet speakers mellow but can exhibit force when needed. any ideas on what the specs are on these?

thanks nacon for the info.

any one else using these speaks. how do you think they sound when compared with your other speakers.

i think they are on par with the paradigm monitor 9 v3. but with each respective speaker showing strengths and weaknesses by a small margin both have sparkling highs when called for. and the bass goes deep. both speaks well built. with the infinity with a stronger cabinet(solid oak) and mdf with veneer on the paradigm. sweet deal.

We used to sell those when I ran a shop (LONG time ago). Those were always some of my favorites. The A's and B's IMO were some of the better all around speakers they made at a reasonable price for a long time.

They're accurate enough to do vocal, jazz, folk, etc. but still stand up and rock when you want to.

They want an amp that will grab them by the short hairs and control them but not be edgy on top. We used to sell tons of thes with bridged NAD 2140/3140 amps. Very nice combination.

I have a pair. Nice, but they have problems with vocals and other midrange-heavy stuff. The EMIT and the 10" woofer have to struggle quite a bit to meld properly with one another. The three-way RSb doesn't have this problem, and is a much better-sounding speaker IMO. bpape is correct in that they do need strong amplification.

yes fedalla the midrange isnt as strong as one with a dedicated midrange. although it doesnt suck either.

im running these speaks with a 39 wpc sansui. its the 2000x model. it does sound good with them paired. strong bass. doesnt sound like it struggles with the vocals tho. the reciever does grab the woofer by the short and curlys and makes them sing.

Agreed. I've heard worse (JBL L100 comes to mind).

I run a pair that I got back in 2006 from the Bellevue, WA Goodwill store. They've been painted gloss black, but still have their original grilles and emblems. Woofers were refoamed, but one of the EMITs was dead. Finally got one about a month ago to replace it.

I use a Sony STR-GX59ES receiver to drive them. The midrange frequencies seem good enough to me. The speakers are much better than the 4-way SM155's that I owned previously.

sometimes(which is alot to me) its hard to describe how something sounds. the sound of the RSa does sound well balanced. its not muted anyway. midrange, highs, or lows. my advents are another story(as2) they sound much darker. they are a two way speaker. with two six inch woofers.

on another note.

HOW COULD YOU PAINT THE SOLID OAK BLACK? ok enough ranting on my part. how does it look with them black...emmm never mind i guess i can imagine it well enough. unless you can provide a pic:D

Heh, looks terrible. Dunno what the previous owner was thinking... This summer, it's coming off, that's for sure.

that would help them look nicer. im having a tough time imagining them in black, as i look at the oak grains on them. would be well worth your time and effort. dont see alot of speaks with solid oak on them. although i dont know which other speaks have them. maybe someone can pipe up on this.

on your tweet being burnt out. a few times i thought my tweets had burnt out a few times. but at turning up the gain on the high freqs i hear them. this was at low volume.

Tweet was blown. Magnet was in three pieces, and the diaphragm was blown. So, I picked up a replacement EMIT recently, and expected to need to rebuild the x-over network. Popped the tweet in on a whim, and everything works fine.

Listening to a set right now. They sound like music to me. Awesome soundstage and imaging with great clarity for the details in jazz music. They rock pretty good too.

hey some interest on this old thread. i guess threads will get old. but the speakers will still be here.
they are nice sounding speakers. how many watts are you guys running this speaker with? right now im using the hk pm 655. was suprised with how good it sounded.
ive been running pretty low watts on my infinitys so i am careful not to crank the volume in case the amp section distorts. i think the higher wattage i have is the hk or the pioneer sx 1500td. but that one seems to lack some low bass extension. gotta find a good match for it some day.
funny thing i noticed when i turned up the high freq. knob on my reciever. i heard the highs increase on the woofer.

I am using a Pioneer SX 980 (kinda on loan) @ 80wpc. Curious how others have their mid and high adjustments set. Mine are what I would call neutral, or centered.

my tweets are a little past noon. but usually neutral.
