Ok, so today I decided to DeOxit my cartridge connecting wires from my headshell. After cleaning them and reconnecting everything, I noticed everything sounded WAY smooth... very nice! Well, I also noticed there was hum coming from the TT now, where it was dead silent before. Investigating the cartridge, I realized that I accidently swapped the red and white wires... so I switched them back... totally silent now, whew! BUT the super duper smoothness is gone! Has anyone noticed this before? I think I actually might prefer the sound when hooked up wrong, if only there wasn't the hum. I don't know if it's cancelling out anything or what happens when they are switched, but it actually made a desirable effect on my system! Strange indeed...

Anyone else experience this before?
