View Full Version : Hi all 8D Norway calling
Pstraums 06-11-2008, 05:41 AM I was 100% certain I already DID this a looong time ago, but it seems my memory serves me quite poorly. I did not intend to be rude and hang around for so long without saying HI! :)
So here goes :
My name is PerS and I`m from just outside Oslo, Norway. I love music (all kinds: metal, rock, pop, jazz, country, bluegrass etc... ) and I have been playing guitar and bass since I was a young kid (must admit I`ve not played too much lately).
I`ve been through three different audio periods in my "career" .. first it was the "english sound" in the late 80`s early nineties (minimalistic approach, like cyrus/audionote/audio innovations etc) then moved on to Surround (Yamaha, Energy, Samsung etc), and finally last year (sick of surround) back to stereo (vintage-ish), from back when they "knew how" ... My stereo setup as of right now looks like this (and sounds alright) :

TDL Monitor Transmissionlines Second biggest TDL in the late eighties, Pioneer SA-9500, Sony ST-313L, Kenwood DP7030)
(my ugly face is even in the Samsung photoframe sitting in the middle)
I also have backup system (love the looks of the 2225.. one of the prettiest things (on four feet) in the world, if you ask me) :)

So thank you for your time, thanks in advance for all future fun, help and inspiration.

MikeO 06-11-2008, 08:21 AM Hi PerS
I had the great pleasure to visit Oslo for a couple of weeks in the mid 1980's. I was 16 at the time and our hockey team spent our Christmas break there. Ever since, I have had a great interest in Scandinavian culture.
More recently I have found a couple of Norwegian bands that I really like. Ever get a chance to see Jaga Jazzist or the Tord Gustavsen Trio?
Regards,
Mike O
Njord Noatun 06-11-2008, 08:42 AM Velkommen, Per. Nice to have more Norwegians here: I grew up in Telemark, and travel back most summers: Great place! :thmbsp:

Isn't that the truth - I really like that shelving system in your photo, Per - seems like it was specifically designed for stereo gear: This shelf would meet even the most stringent WAF requirements, IMO. And nice gear!
meggy 06-11-2008, 08:55 AM Welcome to AK.
Strangeband 06-11-2008, 10:09 AM Welcome to AK, PerS. Your set up looks (and I'm sure sounds) great.

Holst 06-11-2008, 10:16 AM Howdy!
Pstraums 06-11-2008, 11:42 AM Thanx all, for giving me such a warm welcome :)
My problem is that in my house there are not room for a "real man-cave" :) .. so I need to have the stereo system in the living room... (and a/v system in the TV room upstairs) which means I must try to keep my system(s) from "offending/pissing off" certain ppl in my household :)
The rack(s) you see are the two cheapest stereo racks from Ikea. (from "LACK" series) Its really a bargain, I feel, even though quality are not exactly superb! :)

jdfromla 06-17-2008, 07:19 PM Welcome PerS from another newbie.
I was watching the Bislett Games in Oslo on television here in California last Saturday. The digital stadium clock said 22:10, yet it was full daylight out. What time does the sun set in summer?
Njord Noatun 06-17-2008, 08:04 PM I was watching the Bislett Games in Oslo on television here in California last Saturday. The digital stadium clock said 22:10, yet it was full daylight out. What time does the sun set in summer?
Oslo is on a similar latitude (~60 deg.) as Anchorage, Alaska: On the First Day of Summer (6/21), the Oslo sun sets at 10:44PM and rises again at rises at 3:54AM: In between, it doesn't really get dark at all. In Northern Norway (north of the Arctic Circle - ~67 deg.), it doesn't set at all.
The flip side of the coin: On the First Day of Winter (12/21), the sun in Oslo rises at 9:20AM and sets at 3:11PM (and it doesn't really get that light in between!). Again, north of the Arctic Circle the sun doesn't rise at all......
Pstraums 06-20-2008, 04:23 AM No doubt, Norway is a great place in the summertime  :) I just wish the summer would last a bit longer :) (and the weather to be a "tad" more stable)
Dark, long and cold winters make music even MORE important (for those of us not THAT interested in skiing, and outdoor stuff like that) :)
John James 06-20-2008, 06:59 AM Welcome...Enjoy..
