The 2009 AK fest will be held at the same venue as last year, The Embassy Suites, Livonia Michigan on May 2 and 3 of 2009. The show will be the biggest and best ever.
Yes its a long way out but rest assured the hotel will sell out. Book your sleeping ( as if you folks actually do much there :) ) early or risk staying elsewhere away from the action. Until the 09 fest page is up and running you may click on this link to book http://embassysuites.hilton.com/en/es/groups/personalized/DTTLIES-AK9-20090428/index.jhtml
Thanks and see you there

That's the only way to go, if you have far to travel. :thmbsp: I booked Fri-Mon this past Fest, and was glad I did.

So do they allow systems in the sleeping rooms too, or only listening rooms?

You mean as in being part of the show ?

um... well.. I mean as in our personal systems, like others bring theirs for all to hear.
I'm just trying to decide what to do, and what it will end up costing with different options.

Members pay for the privilege of showing off their systems in rooms within the show.
What you do in your room clean on the other side of the hotel is your business. However if any member does do this know that I will frown upon it. It could potentially take people away from the show not to mention if you get too loud could cause you to be thrown out on your ear.
There are many rules that must be adhered too within the show. Not being in the show creates another new set of problems that to be honest I'm not willing to deal with.
A system for your own personal listening after hours ? Sure as long as it does not bother your neighbors. If it did the hotel would come down on your like a ton of bricks followed by me, which by the way would make the hotel look like little school girls.
Not being mean but I will NOT allow anything to create friction between the hotel and the festival.
So you see there really is no easy answer to your question.

Nope.. that was an easy answer Grumpy. I understand and know what you mean. I just didn't understand how things were set up and how it works. Gotta be a newbie some time ya know? :D
So, with that said, what are the listening rooms running? and if you have one of those, then you have to have a seperate sleeping room too then correct?

I had my small travel system setup for afterhours listening and it worked out very well 3-5 guys stopped by to watch me get crocked and we listened to some tunes not loud and pretty sure we didn't bother anyone not in the room with us. BUT it was not played during the show at all. No time to busy looking at stuff and talking to buddies.
Sadly I am going to have to pass this year with the super late start to the construction season a couple of lost bids and no new subdivisions going in this year money will end up very tight this winter around here so I best conserve.
Maybe 2010

So a member room.. you can set up your system in there, and be able to sleep in it, or do you have to get two rooms is what I'm trying to figure out..

"Member room" means a listening room. If you want to show off your system at the show, you get two rooms, a listening room and a sleeping room. Listening rooms are located separately, and all together. You book the sleeping room directly with the hotel, and the listening room with Grumpy once the rate is set.

ah.. ok.. perfect Rich.. that was the answer I was looking for. I know with the old hotel that was the way it was, but I didn't know if it was the same with the new hotel.
