View Full Version : Help please, i need the name and artist of a 70s-80s soul/r&b song.
wilsons926 06-13-2008, 04:52 PM its a group of males singing that sound alot like the ojays. the only lyrics i know for sure is "and baby since i've got you, everything is alright" also, at the climax of each verse, the music stops and one of the guys says "because your love is so good, so good, so good to me. [music starts again] "Lovin you, has made my biggest dreams come true" or something like that. it sounds like late 70s r&b imo. can anybody help me? any help is greatly appreciated!

birddog 06-13-2008, 05:41 PM I searched around, based on what you provided, but no matches...
onepixel 06-13-2008, 05:53 PM No clue... maybe Mystic will know.
wilsons926 06-13-2008, 05:55 PM i just don't know enough about it. and every time it comes on the radio, they never say the name of it or anything.
Edit: sorry for that double post

Call the station, they usually have a playlist.
Good luck!
wilsons926 06-13-2008, 06:01 PM good ideal. i'll do that next time it comes on.
Mystic 06-13-2008, 08:12 PM Interesting set of lyrics. The example you provided is something of a "Frankenstein's Monster" of soul lyrics as the lines you've transcribed seem to occur, independently, in about a hundred soul & r&b titles. :D Anyway, since radio stations (unless it's a college type) rarely play rare soul/r&b and so you're probably searching for a prominent act, e.g., The Isleys, The Temptations, etc., vocal groups who recorded many dozens of songs with lyrical content as you've described. About the only thing that pops to my mind having read your transcription is a song not by a male vocal group but my a solo female artist, Ms Diana Ross, who sang Your Love Is So Good For Me. Diana definitely sang "for" and not "to". Of well, good luck and please share the result of your search if you think you've struck gold on this one.
Now I think I'll go play me some Isley Brothers. Thanks for the inspiration. ;)
Saint Johnny 06-13-2008, 08:29 PM Call the station, they usually have a playlist.
Good luck!
I agree with Mystic, could be one of a million different R&B songs.
These days they also probably have a website with the playlist posted, as well.

Mystic 06-16-2008, 09:17 PM Way to go. FUnny, after reading that someone found the song for you, I typed "your love is so good, so good, so good to me" + lyrics" into Google and guess what came up? Yep: THE O'JAYS LOVIN’ YOU LYRICS. I guess Google is good for something.
wilsons926 06-16-2008, 10:03 PM wow, i did that a million times and never saw the o'jays. maybe its becasue i left out the +? i'm just glad i found it. there's nothing like finding a song you didn't know the name of. its a pretty good song too. i'm surprised its not as popular as their other hits. it should be.
