My vote for their best album goes to Deguello. Great stuff. Anyone else fond of this one?

I've always been a fan of their older work. Tres Hombres and Fandango are my favorites. As far as comps go, One Foot in the Blues is excellent.

Certainly a great album.

Very hard for me to pick a "best" album from ZZ Top, so many good choices!

I remember the day I bought that album not long after it was released. It took me a few spins to warm to it but it's been my favourite album of theirs ever since. That LP is still in excellent shape and I play it regularly :thmbsp:

Tres Hombres...and this is coming from their home town...I've gotta be right!

Seriously, that solo in Beer Drinkers by Rev. Billy G. is epic.

I like Tres Hombres, but it sounds like it was recorded with pillows over the mics. The engineer musta been on the tequila. Shame that such great performances sound so muddy.

I'm not sure that I can pick one - Tres Hombres and Deguello are both excellent. :thmbsp:

Anything before Eliminator is good with me.

I saw the Eliminator tour twice. Not on purpose, just the way it worked out with some free tickets.. it was a really great show. They played a lot of their old stuff too...

I discovered that the early copies of Eliminator had a hilarious extra twist. If you let it play out until stuck in that last circular groove, you could hear The Rev saying "have mercy ...have mercy ...have mercy ...have mercy..."
Any body have a copy if THIS?

Yep.. I posted about it about two weeks ago asking if any other people have heard any other runout recordings.

I have to vote for Fandango. Side a is the best live R&R recording I can think of......well maybe. But give me the Mexican Blackbird any day.

it's a tough call, but i have to agree that deguello is their best.

last time i saw them was in pensacola. must have been about 10 years ago. kansas opened for them. i hate to say it, but even though kansas played through zz's stage equipment, they blew zz away.
