Any of you music lovers have a killer local musician who most of us will never hear? I live near Washington DC and we have a few amazing guitar players that are relatively obscure.
Tom Principato is one amazing guitar player, in the style of Roy Buchanan or Danny Gatton (two great local guitarists, both deceased) Check out "Not One Word"
Dave Chappell is another good one, spans many genres but mostly plays roots music.
Danny Morris was up here, now in Florida, is one of the best "bar band" guitarists I have seen. he has 3 or 4 cd's. His first "I Won't Worry" is my fave. Listen to "Misery Tears".
Let us all know about your unsung hero, who knows, he may make it big.

Since I'm in the same area.. Ron Holloway.. What a hell of a sax player. Just saw him last weekend with Little Feat, and over the winter with Government Mule.. One unreal jazz and blues player.

Hey James, I used to see him with Root Boy Slim. You are right he is amazing.
Since you are the only post I am guessing most of us here stay home to listen to music or only go to see national acts.
Has anyone from Minneapolis ever seen the Lamont Cranston Band? They blew me out of my seat the first time I saw them. Dan Akroyd is always plugging them.

In Bowling Green, Ky. there is a guy named Tom Tuttino. Reminds me of Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future.
The guy took a laptop, and a Line Six, thru the house P.A., and proceeded to play "Bad Horsie" by Steve Vai, note for note, then whipped out some items from John Pettruci, and a Satriani tune or two.
Staggering technique. Myself, along with all the other musicians in the room, just sorta slinked out the back!
These prodigies are among us.

In the 80's and early 90's there was Flamin' Harry McGonigal in the Philly area. I don't know if he's still around because I'm out here in HELL now.Harry had a local hit with "Ain't Nobody", and was responsible for such ditties as "Smoky Burnouts On Your Face". Good times.
KC has Trampled Underfoot, which is three siblings, two brothers and a sister, who play the shit out of the blues and just won all the beans at some blues festival in, I think, Nashville or somewhere like that. The gal can flat out sing her ass off, and her brother is a lefty who plays a Gibson Firebird upside down. Killer. They run a jam night here and I've played with them. Nice people, but for some reason cannot remember their names at the moment. Weird part is, she's the bassist as well and they're both lefties. Check them out. And no, they don't play Zep covers.
