Here's The Man discussing many aspects of touring and recording. It's where I got my signature: "Americans hate music but..." blah blah. Talks about Fusion music, synthesizers, guitar solos, audiences, Disco, and on and on.

If he were still alive..........

I could listen to Frank ramble on all night. He really was a very erudite man and probably could have taught a variety of subjects at the university level.

I thoought the question, and FZ's response, about the State Dep't inviting him to go to "the Soviet Union" were quite interesting in retrospect; given that he's virtually deified in "the former Czechoslovakia".

Interesting. Love his "Jan Hammer" comment on fusion.

I've got that magazine.
Has anyone transcribed the article he did for LIFE magazine back in the 60's?
There's pictures and articles about several groups, Jefferson Airplane, Gratefull Dead, etc..and there was an article written by FZ in that issue too.
I have it at home and will have to look up the issue number and date. ( I Googled it, June 28, 1968).

Thanks for that link, mhardy. I've read Wikipedia articles on Zappa before, but not that particular one. Seems like a lot of Zappa fans make entries in that 'book'.

I introduced our son (now 20) to Zappa's music in his early teens. He became a huge fan, and has amassed a significant collection of FZ's recorded output.

You never really know which seeds'll grow...

BTW, speaking of Zappa... this is our kitteh named Zappa...

Good for mhardy Jr. Must have good taste like his Dad.

Good name for your kitty. But he doesn't have the right moustache

Yeah, Spider. I spent a couple of hours reading the interviews! Stuff I've never read about Frank before. You have a really great link there. It's in "My Favorites" and I'm sending the link to others I know who are Zappa fans.

You get all the credit. Thanks!
