In an effort to complete my Emmylou collection,I found Red Dirt Girl at B.A.M. for $10

Is it just me or is the sound crap on this cd.It sounds like it was recorded in a barrel that was vibrating.I couldn't listen to it.

It sounds pretty bad... the better the hifi, the worse it sounds... BUT it is (IMNSHO) an absolutely terrific album; I love it. I realize I am far in the minority, but I like it better than Wrecking Ball.

Listen to her vibrato at the end of I Don't Want to Talk About it Now;oh, man...

BTW, she has a brand new album out, y'know? All I Intended to Be. I picked up a copy last weekend, but haven't had a chance to listen yet. Stereophile seemed to like it.

It doesn't hurt at all that she is still beautiful...

Hm. I should dig this CD up and listen to it to see if it's that bad.
EDIT: took a listen and have come to the judgment that it doesn't sound worse than any other CD I own. Then again, my ears aren't quite the best. :dunno:

She was beautiful and talented back in the day. She´s kept her beauty and apparently her tallent too.

Shame I only have one of her LP´s - Pieces of the Sky. Have to see to it.

It is extremely "processed" and very artificial sounding. It actually sounded OK on the Cornies, and it sounds fine in the car, but on the Valencias... not so much. I find the album good enough to listen through the soundscape, though. No problem.

It sounds like crap on the jolida and Arcam cdp.Not too bad through the computer $1.99 speakers
